CARS come in various scales from micro at 1/32 to 1/5 Scale and can be powered by Battery , nitro engine or petrol . Scales are usually 1/16 Scale:1/10 Scale;1/8 Scale or 1/5 Scale but micro scales are gaining popularity . The Radio Control System is usually 2 channels to control steering and speed and consists of radio transmitter which you hold and use to control car and a receiver in car to receive your instructions from transmitter and servos to carry out the instructions . Manufacturers who make radio control cars include Tamiya ;Kyosho ; HPI ; Traxxas ; Team Losi ; Team Associated ; Fg Modellsport ; Carson ; Mardave ; Mugen Seiki ; Thunder Tiger ; Xmods ; HPI Baja ; Schumacher ;Yokomo ; Ofna and Hoboa Nitro Engines from JBA Engines. Who hasn't fantasized about climbing behind the wheel of an exotic high-performance racing machine, or the latest street-legal supercar? Few of us can afford to make such fantasies become reality, but your automotive dreams can easily become real with radio control, or RC. RC cars are much more than models; they're fully-functional automobiles that can go as fast as 60MPH and are equipped with working suspension systems that borrow technology directly from the real deal. There are electric , nitro and petrol engine-powered kits to suit different tastes and budgets, and just about every type of wheeled machine can be replicated in RC. From monster trucks to dragsters, road cars to off road stadium racers, you can experience them all with the radio control car hobby. Take a look through the links on the right to view the different styles of car and trucks RC vehicles come in all shapes and sizes, but the most basic distinction between types of RC car models is their power source. All are either powered by an electric motor and battery, or an engine that runs on fuel. Which is better for a beginner? Faster? More fun? The answers may surprise you! The links on the right are split by power type. Click on a few to view the difference in size and style of car.
All the different types of Radio Control Car require the same sort radio control gear .This is usually two channel , that is just two seperate items to control , steering and speed .
ELECTRIC VEHICLES have the advantage of clean, quiet operation. They expel no fumes, and don't produce any significant noise. ENGINE POWERED MODELS, which are more commonly called "nitro" kits, because they run on nitromethane-based fuel , have two primary advantages: higher speed and longer run time .PETROL POWERED MODELS are usually large scale 1/5 or 1/6 and are for the Experienced Driver as they are very big , fast and heavy >
As you probably now realise there are many different types of radio control and many different types of manufacturer it is difficult for one company to supply all models and all available products , but as there are many Ebay sellers the range of product is the best there is .If you are ready to see what is available have a look on Ebay now . JBA Nitro Car Engines are manufactured in China to a high engineering standard . They are available in usual range of sizes , .12 , .15 and .18 small block engines and .21, .25 , .28 big block engines . Engines or Spare Pullstarts available . Pull starts also fit most Team Infinity engines .
Engines are sized as .12 etc which is cubic inch and as most people relate to engines in cc's ( cubic centimetre ) this might help you decide the engine size you want

Choose Right Nitro Fuel
Radio Control Cars Glow Plug engines use nitro fuel, a methanol-based fuel with nitromethane and oil added. The amount of nitromethane in the fuel is typically about 20% but could be anywhere in the 10% to 40% range or higher. Castor oil or synthetic oil is added to the fuel to provide lubrication and cooling. The type and amount of oil in the nitro fuel is what determines whether it is better suited to RC cars and trucks or aircraft.
There several schools of thought on whether or not the same nitro fuel is suitable for both RC cars and RC airplanes. The major difference is in the type of oil and the amount of oil added to the fuel although the percentage of nitromethane can make a difference as well.
The Radio Control Nitro Car Engine has evolved over the years into a very robust and reliable power unit, and modern nitro engines are much more reliable and powerful than they ever were

R/C cars started in the mid-sixties. Pioneers made 1/8th scale pan cars using .19-cubic-inch 2-stroke model airplane engines. 1 Around 1967, companies like WEN, Model Car Enterprises, Dynamic Models, and Associated started to produce car "kits".
Tamiya is now one of largest radio control companies and was one of the pioneers of adiocontrol cars as we know them today .It all started in 1946, when Mr. Yoshio Tamiya, the founder, opened a saw mill and lumber business in Shizuoka. Tamiya ventured into modeling in 1948, with a scale wooden ship model kit. Since then, Tamiya has continued to grow, producing models known as "First in Quality Around the World".
As related by Robin Schumacher in 1998 in an interview with Radio Control Car Action magazine . The company was started by my father Cecil Schumacher, in 1980. I used to race Ih2-scale cars, which were then the only electric R/C cars on the market. My father made some tune-up parts for me and then began to sell them. We started with the first-ever ball differential, which was a major innovation at the time because prior to that, everyone used gear differentials. Eventually, he became so busy with R/C parts that he left his job as a design engineer for Cosworth, where he designed Formula 1 racecar transmissions, and began making R/C parts full time from the garage at the side of the house.
We started making 1/12-scale car kits and then moved up to 1/10-scale off-road with the innovative original Cat 4WD, which Masami Hirosaka used to win his first world championship in 1987. The company has now grown into a modern factory employing about 25 people.
What was the first Japanese RC car ever produced? It is now 40 years since Kyosho started business and it was in 1970 that Kyosho started selling the DASH 1. Lets take a look back in time to see the birth of the DASH 1, generally agreed by the industry to be the first RC car made in Japan.
Radio control (RC) spread through the model market from the about 1960, after the Tokyo Olympics. Still regarded as luxury items, most equipment and attention was focussed on model aircraft. Many people still dreamt if RC could be adapted to an engine powered car, but there were no manufacturers to develop this into reality.
